Somehow the funny shape reduces the seriousness of the usual, pragmatic traffic, somehow the funny noise \u2013 deng-deng-deng-deng \u2013 and the big windows, through which you see the landscape flying by convey immediately the feeling of ease and well-being. Besides everybody smiles at you, because the unusual shape attracts a lot of amused attraction. A strong point for guys, by the way \u2013 women love this car \u2026 \u00a0It\u2019s not hard to drive, once you get the grip of the steering, which is a bit truck-like. The gearshift is placed near the steering wheel, very handy by the way (I wonder why they stopped doing it), and furthermore the car is technically rather basic, so to speak, the dashboard has no more than three or four switches, light, windshield wipers(?), choke. The suspension is settee-soft, like in all classic Citro\u00ebns, and it tips at bit in the curves, which is fun too. Flaminio Bertoni, der Designer, bezeichnete das Modell als seine beste Arbeit, was einiges hei\u00dfen will, wenn man bedenkt, das Bertoni auch f\u00fcr die Gestaltung von Citro\u00ebn DS und Traction Avant verantwortlich war. Wer in diesem ungew\u00f6hnlichen Wagen durch St\u00e4dte und \u00fcber Landstra\u00dfen steuert, bleibt nicht unbemerkt. Das Modell baute auf der Technologie des 2CV auf, war aber f\u00fcr ein etwas gehobeneres Marktsegment gedacht. Der Motor ist daher leistungsf\u00e4higer und einige Elemente, die das Fahren bequemer machen, wurden aus dem DS \u00fcbernommen. Der Ami tr\u00e4gt seinen Namen zu Recht. Wie ein guter Freund hilft er dem Fahrer dabei, nach einem anstrengenden Tag zu entspannen. W\u00e4hrend man ihn f\u00e4hrt, kommt man unweigerlich ins Sinnieren, ob die technischen Spielereien der heutigen Autos tats\u00e4chlich so notwendig sind: Denn der Ami hat alles, was ein Auto wirklich braucht.
